Cinnamon Eggs or (as pronounced) Khai Pa Loor. (AKA “khai pa lo” and “khai pa lor”) This can almost be described as a Thai Soup however it’s a meal in itself sold in every supermarket cafe and in road side eateries all over Thailand.

  • Preparation: 

    - 1/2 kg. chicken wings

    - 1 teaspoon nubced garlic

    - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

    - 3 cups (720 ml.) water

    - 3 tablespoons sugar

    - 1 teaspoon salt

    - 2 teaspoons light soy sauce

    - 2 teaspoons black soy sauce 

    - 5 hard-boiled eggs

    - 1 piece of bean curd

     

    Direction: 

    1. Prepare 1/2 kg. chicken wings.  Sprinkle 1 table spoon Chinese Five-Spice Blend over chicken wings and knead gently.
    2. Brown 1 teaspoon minced garlic with 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Stir-fry chicken wings, turning a few times.
    3. Add 3 cups (720ml.) water, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons light soy sauce and 2 teaspoons black soy sauce to taste.
    4. Add 5 hard-boiled eggs, 1 piece of bean curd, cut into 1 inch cubes. Cover and simmer 1 hour.  Garnish with corinder leave before serving
